Traffic Unit
The Newark Police Traffic Unit is responsible for responding to injury and non-injury collisions, neighborhood traffic complaints, vehicle abatement, enforcing the California Vehicle Code and local municipal ordinances, Truck Routes and providing educational programs for the community.
Traffic Staff
The Newark Police Department Traffic Unit currently consists of:
- One Lieutenant
- One Sergeant
- Two Traffic Officers
- Two Vehicle Abatement Officers
Traffic Complaints
There are many ways we address traffic complaints in the City Of Newark. Increased enforcement and placement of speed trailers assist with some of these problems.
You can request the speed trailer or file a traffic related complaint by contacting the traffic division.

Parking Complaints / Abandoned Vehicles
Parking violations and abandoned vehicles are handled by Vehicle Abatement officers.

Please do not submit duplicated reports - doing so will dramatically increase the volume and cause a delay in responding to these requests.
