The primary reason that the City of Newark collects and maintains citizen information is to make your customer experience as personalized and effective as possible. The City of Newark respects your right to privacy regarding personal, identifying information provided to the City through your use of the City's website. Personal identifying information refers to information which identifies you individually, including your name, phone number, e-mail address, and/or physical address.

The City of Newark will not release personal, identifying information without either: (1) the consent of the person providing the information, or (2) a court order. However, it is important to understand that the City has obligations to provide public access to "public records" under the California Public Records Act (California Government Code sections 6250, et seq.). Although the City will strive to protect the privacy of your personal, identifying information, there may be portions of your communications that the City will be required to reveal to the public in order to comply with the requirements of the California Public Records Act.

E-mail and Direct Mail

When using the City of Newark website you may be requested to provide personal, identifying information. Such information would typically be requested in order to facilitate correspondence between you and the City, or to provide you with information about City services, upcoming events, or activities. The City of Newark will not use personal, identifying information for any purpose other than that for which it is explicitly provided The City of Newark will only disclose such information to a third party, when directed to do so under a court order.

Log Files

The City of Newark does not release any information regarding the collection of IP addresses to any third party except under court order. The City of Newark web site archives web server log files in order to create aggregate statistical reports, detect errors, and for security reasons. These reports do not contain any personally identifiable information. The web log files are ultimately deleted.
