2023 Community Survey Results

In the fall of 2023, the City conducted a community survey to gather objective feedback on City services and identify priorities for improving existing programs and services. To ensure the survey's accuracy and reliability, the City partnered with ETC Institute, a national leader in market research for local governments.Picture1

The primary goals of using a consultant were to conduct a statistically valid survey that could serve as a baseline for future comparisons, ensure the survey sample was representative of Newark's demographics, and provide results that could be benchmarked against other cities in California and nationwide.

The survey was mailed to a random sample of 3,000 Newark households and was available in the five most spoken languages in Newark, according to the 2020 U.S. Census. The margin of error is +/- 4.8% at the 95% level of confidence.

The survey results have been compiled and are available for public viewing in an interactive dashboard. You can explore the detailed findings and insights by accessing the following link: City of Newark Survey Dashboard.

The feedback from the Newark community is highly valuable and essential for the City's planning processes. We sincerely appreciate the participation and insights provided by the residents.
