Manu Week 2024 1

We’re excited to announce the return of Manufacturing Week to Newark for its second year! This annual event, anchored by Manufacturing Day – a nationally recognized celebration held on the first Friday of October – aims to change outdated perceptions of the manufacturing industry and to improve the appeal of these important careers.

While manufacturing once had a reputation for being dirty, unsafe, and repetitive, today it’s a dynamic field offering a wide range of high-paying jobs. From automation, operations and planning, IT, microbiology to packaging and so much more, there are diverse opportunities for both college graduates and those entering the workforce directly from high school.

Last year, Newark businesses ATUM, Allogene, Nefab, and Resource Label Group took part in our first Manufacturing Week, and we’re thrilled to share even more engaging experiences this year. Continue reading for details about the exciting events you and your children can participate in to explore this evolving and exciting industry!

NUSD’s Manufacturing Week

On Friday, October 4, Newark Memorial High School (NMHS) will host an Informational Meet-and-Greet during the lunch period, giving high school students the chance to discover exciting career paths in manufacturing. Students should head towards the stage in front of the Commons to meet representatives from local manufacturers eager to share how they can get started in this interesting industry. We encourage them to ask questions and explore careers they may not have heard of before! Please note: This is not a hiring event or job fair.

The following week, select NMHS teachers will welcome industry professionals for classroom visits. Students will engage in structured presentations followed by Q&A sessions to dive deeper into manufacturing opportunities.
