Bulky-Waste Pick-Up

Republic Services offers Newark residents three (3) annual by appointment curbside clean-up/bulky collections free of charge.  Customers are required to contact Republic Services at least seven (7) days in advance of the requested collection date by calling (510) 657-3500 to schedule an appointment.

Clean-up Guidelines

• Set out up to three (3) cubic yards of household trash, recyclable or organic materials, construction and demolition debris or E-waste or one (1) appliance or large item (not to exceed 5 feet or 75lbs).
• All household trash must be bagged, bundled or boxed (except large bulky items)
• Organic materials include yard trimmings not to exceed 16 inches in diameter or length and must be bagged, boxed or tied in bundles.
• If items set-out exceeds three (3) cubic yards, customer will be responsible for an additional bulky item collection fee.
• Place items at your curbside not more than 24 hours in advance but by 6 a.m. on your scheduled bulky collection day.

Items Not Accepted

• For safety purposes, Republic Services cannot collect the following items:
• Material that exceeds five (5) feet in length or 75 pounds.
• Household hazardous material (toxic substances, paint, thinners)
• Concrete
• Motor vehicles, auto parts or fluids
• Hot ashes
• Animal waste
• Poison oak
• Commercial refrigerators
• Loose items (small items must be bagged, boxed or tied into bundles)

Hazardous waste is NOT accepted during scheduled clean-ups or during regular collection service. For more information on how to dispose of household hazardous waste, please visit Stopwaste.org.

Two free passes to Newby Island Landfill

Two free passes to the Newby Island Landfill per year per residence. Call Republic Services at (510) 657-3500 or visit RepublicServicesAC.com to receive your free passes to dispose of up to 4-cubic yards of waste twice a year.  Passes can be mailed or picked up in person at the Republic Services Fremont office location at 42600 Boyce Road, Fremont.  Residents must bring passes and show proof of Newark residency at Newby Island Landfill.

Newby Island is located at 1601 Dixon Landing Road, Milpitas, CA 95035.

Landfill passes are not available for pick-up at Newby Island Landfill.
